BRIDGE MAINTENANCE Florida Drawbridge ensures quality service by performing all day-to-day operations, maintenance, and repair work with our own highly trained staff.  Our organization is cohesive and fast to respond to any issues, as all bridge-tenders, technicians, engineers and managers are part of the same, solid company.  This assures that: operations are conducted in the safest, most organized method possible; no time is wasted relaying information from contractor to sub-tractor and back; and no conflicts of interest interfere with the management and maintenance of the moveable bridges.

We minimally utilize sub-contractors for either highly specialized expertise or equipment, leaving all core elements of the contract to our own personnel.  For inspections and engineering services we have contracted the services of H.W. Lochner.  From the ground up, our highly experienced and qualified movable bridge professionals represent the best in their fields.  We believe this is the best method of assuring excellence in the performance of our responsibilities.

We retain the services of H. W. Lochner, Inc. (Lochner) for bridge inspections.  They provide routine and interim inspections for drawbridges. They have a firm understanding of the critical need to ensure timely and accurate inspections. They have extensive experience in above and below water structural inspections, mechanical inspections, electrical inspections, and fracture critical inspections on drawbridges.  Lochner maintains a large staff of structural, mechanical and electrical drawbridge engineers; this team is experienced in the inspection, reporting, maintenance, troubleshooting, and design of structural bridge repairs of all types.  They are an integral part of our Quality Assurance process and actively participate in the Feasible Action Review Committee meetings. 

Florida Drawbridges, Inc. has worked together with most of the F-DOT Pre-Qualified Bascule bridge consultants and specialty sub contractors including PCL Civil Contractors, Gilbert Southern, Granite Constructions, Coastal Marine, Archer Western, Steward Machine, Seacoast, Hardesty & Hanover, Yaskin Engineering, Bolton-Perez & Ass. as well as numerous other specialty bridge contractors from bridge-house windows to emergency crane services. Florida Drawbridge, its staff, and subcontractors have performed many project rehabilitations and upgrades to improve the bridges in Florida. 

Our maintenance is performed by our experienced and competent staff whom are intimately familiar with the area bridges.  It is the intent of our proactive inspection and preventative maintenance program to minimize and prevent malfunctions of the electrical and mechanical equipment and prolong the life of the equipment.  All maintenance and repair activities are logged into our repair and maintenance software with copies of all activities provided to the Department and imputed in the F-DOT MMS system. Any item graded fair or poor is corrected.  This, ultimately, prevents downtime and the generation of additional work by addressing issues before they become problems; working towards our objective of 100% uptime.
