Asset Maintenance

In 2007 Florida Drawbridges, Inc. began its first full Performance Based Asset Management Contract for Movable Bridges in Miami Dade and Monroe Counties for the Florida DOT District 6. By implementing the principles of Asset Management Florida Drawbridge has consistently achieved high levels of service at the most efficient cost to the public.

Performance based maintenance contracting delivers important benefits to the owners and users of the transportation infrastructure by providing safe and effectively maintained transportation system while generating significant cost saving. Several independent studies have demonstrated and documented these savings. A recent study performed by the Florida DOT in partnership with the University of North Florida has also shown that FDOT is benefiting from significant savings thanks to the use of asset maintenance contracts using Performance Based models.

Risk sharing is one of the key foundations of Performance Based Contracting. A fair allocation of risk between the infrastructure owner and the contractor results in a safer system, significant savings to the owner and a more productive partnership.

Over the last 10 years, Florida Drawbridges has developed Asset Management best practices, becoming a leader in the O&M for movable bridges. In 2013, as the company expanded its field of competencies, it adopted the new name FDI Services and is now a full service Asset Management company in the operation and maintenance of infrastructure specializing in bridges, urban high-speed roadways and facilities.
